AccessAbility Fest Internship and Service Learning Job Description
Summer & Fall Semesters
This position will provide the opportunity for engagement in the planning and implementation of a community-wide event bringing resources and recreation to individuals with disabilities and their families. The event will be held on Sunday, in late October, and is expected to have 2,000 attendees. The AccessAbility Fest Intern or Service Learning student will be actively engaged in the planning and will provide supports to the Logistics, Exhibitor, Entertainment, Activity, Volunteer, Public Relations, Ask the Expert and Health and Safety task forces.
Depending on the number of hours committed to this project, Interns and Service Learning Students will participate in one or more of the following activities.
Logistics: Assist in the coordination of event details including rentals, printed materials, signage, exhibitor layout, committee communications, etc. Some participation in event sponsorship solicitation will occur in the form of mail-outs and follow-up calls.
Exhibitor Recruitment: Assist in the recruitment of exhibitors through research for new prospects and phone call follow-ups to previous participants. Help in securing exhibitor information and transferring of data to the website.
Volunteer Coordination: Assist in the development of volunteer instruction sheets.
Public Relations: Assist in the marketing and public relations for the event through press release composition, website maintenance, media relations, social media posts, flyer distribution, pod cast coordination, etc.
Health Screenings and Safety Demonstrations: Assist in the recruitment of exhibitors to offer health screenings or safety demonstrations through research for new prospects and phone call follow-ups to previous participants. Help in securing exhibitor information and transferring of data to the website.
Entertainment: Assist in the recruitment of exhibitors through research for new prospects and phone call follow-ups to previous participants. Help in securing exhibitor information and transferring of data to the website.
AccessAbility at Work Award: Assist with the promotion of the opportunity for nominations for this annual award.
